Great Harvest Bread Company Opening this Fall

Lake Orion, Mich. – The lease has been signed for the new Great Harvest Bread Company bakery in Lake Orion, Michigan, by owners Jim and Louise Westcott.  The bakery will be located at 1015 S. Baldwin Road, at the corner of Clarkston Road.  It is projected to open this fall.

“We’re excited to bake and share fresh, healthy bread and sweets with our friends in Lake Orion,” said owners Jim and Louise Westcott. “We have combined our love of food and community to fulfill our long awaited dream of owning a neighborhood bakery.”

Lake Orion has been home to the Westcotts for over 30 years.  Before opening their Great Harvest bakery, Jim managed some of Oakland County's most popular malls.  Louise's background is as a paralegal and marketer, both for large corporations and non-profit organizations.

“We raised our three children, Dan, Mike and Renee, in this beautiful community and we’re excited to start our own hometown business right here in Lake Orion,” said the Westcotts.  “Our goal is to create a fun and inviting atmosphere, and offer customers fresh, great tasting whole grain breads and sweets.”

Great Harvest bakeries grind premium Montana wheat berries into whole-wheat flour daily to ensure freshness and flavor. It’s the fresh-ground flour that gives Great Harvest bread its rich taste, nutrients and density.  The bread also does not contain preservatives, additives or dough conditioners.

Originally founded in 1976 in Great Falls, Mont., Great Harvest has more than 200 bakeries located throughout the nation including Alaska and Hawaii. All bakeries are individually owned and operated, and no two are alike. Great Harvest is known for handcrafted breads made with freshly ground whole wheat purchased from family-owned farms. The neighborhood bakeries create an array of legendary fresh-baked breads and sweets, as well as specialty items during the holidays. Great Harvest mills its whole wheat daily. The fresh flour is used within two days to guarantee the best taste and nutritional value.
