On the Agenda: Blossom Ridge Public Hearing in Oakland Township
The Oakland Township Board of Trustees will be collecting public input Tuesday night in regards to the Blossom Ridge senior housing development proposed for the northwest corner of Dutton and Adams Roads.
The Blossom Ridge project is comprised of 282 units proposed on 42 acres of land. Moceri Development is behind the proposal, hoping to rezone the plot of land from Medium Residential Density (MRD) to Multiple Family Residential Density with Planned Residential Rezoning Overlay (RM-PRRO) in order to build Blossom Ridge.
Last month the Oakland Township Planning Commission recommended approval of the project with a 5-2 vote. The fate of the project is now up to the Board of Trustees who can choose to grant the rezoning request, send it back to the Planning Commission or decline the rezoning request as early as its next meeting.
Thus far residents in opposition of Blossom Ridge have raised concerns about the density and character of the project, increases in traffic and possible decline in surrounding home values. In addition to the Blossom Ridge public hearing, the board will consider approval of the budget for the 2012-2013 fiscal year.
The Oakland Township Board of Trustees meeting will take place at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Township Hall.
