5 Entertaining Ways to Spend Father's Day With Dad
Spend quality time fishing, golfing or at the movies with dad this weekend.
Would your dad rather spend time with you than be flocked with presents?
If the answer's yes, here are five fun things to do with dad for Father's Day:
Hit the greens
If dad's a golfer then a day on the greens would be the perfect time to bond with him. There are plenty of golf courses in the area to choose from: Bald Mountain, Indianwood Golf and Country Club, Westwynd Golf Course and Paint Creek Country Club, just to name a few. Even if he's not a great golfer, he might still enjoy putting around at Willow Creek Golf & Sports Center's miniature golf course.
Gear up for a fishing trip
Stop down at Hook Line & Sinker in Lake Orion for live bait, tackle and all your fishing needs, then head over to Orion Oaks County Park, Bald Mountain Recreation Area, Draper Twin Lake Park or another area park and enjoy a day of catching fish. Please note passes are required to access many local parks.
Take him to brunch
Instead of dad flipping burgers on the grill on Sunday, take him out for a nice meal. Plenty of area restaurants are offering Father's Day brunches including Palazzo di Bocce and Kruse & Muer Roadhouse. At Palazzo di Bocce brunch is $21.99 for adults, $10.95 for kids 10-years-old and under and free for children under 4-years-old. Seatings are at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. At Kruse & Muer Roadhouse the Sunday brunch costs $18.95 for people over the age of 13, $7.95 for children ranging in age from 5-12 and free for children under 4-years-old. Reservations are suggested for both restaurants.
Go to the archery range
If you and dad have experience shooting arrows, take him to Marsh View Park in Oakland Township on Saturday from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. for free open range shooting sessions. Targets will be provided but attendees are expected to bring their own archery equipment. Likewise, there is a Father's Day 3D Shoot from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday at Royal Oak Archers in Oakland Township. Cost to participate is $9 per archer and lunch will be available. Thirty 3D targets will be set up on-site. To register contact (248) 693-9799. For more information visit www.RoyalOakArchers.org.
Watch a movie
There are plenty of manly movies out in theaters this weekend, so if dad enjoys watching movies on the big screen, take him to AMC Star Theatres at Great Lakes Crossing Outlets or to Emagine Theatre. Marvel's The Avengers is still out in theaters and Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted, That's My Boy and Rock of Ages are just a few other movies in theaters that he might enjoy.
