5 Things to Know This Week

Galas, fundraisers and meetings – oh, my!

No heat advisories this week: This week's forecast is a sight for sore eyes for many – there's virtually no chance of rain through much of the week, high temperatures will reach the low to mid 70s and nighttime lows will dip into the upper 50s.

School's out forever: Or maybe just for the summer, for those area students who didn't graduate last week. This Thursday is the last day of school for students who attend Rochester Community Schools, and Friday is the last day for students who attend Lake Orion Community Schools. June 10 was the last day for students who attend Romeo Community Schools.

: Students from Baldwin Elementary are teaming up with Sprint and Papa Joe's for an all-day fundraiser Tuesday in the Papa Joe's parking lot in Rochester Hills. The fundraiser will run from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. and will include free hot dogs, a raffle for Meadowbrook Theater tickets and a chance to met retired Red Wings forward Ted Lindsay.

Two township meetings this week: The Oakland Township Board of Trustees is meeting Tuesday at 7 p.m. at ; an agenda was not yet available when this article was published. The Historic District Commission is meeting Thursday at 5 p.m. in the conference room; please see attached agenda.

Library to celebrate 50-year anniversary: Put on your cummerbund and get ready for a night of dancing, silent auctions, a strolling dinner and drinks at the this Saturday at 7 p.m. Tickets are $75 per individual or $140 for couples; please call 248-375-0892 or visit www.rhpl.org for more information. Note: to prepare for the gala, the library will close at 3 p.m. Saturday.
