Woman Reports Domestic Assault After Holiday Parade, and Other Police Reports
Also, a stolen car is recovered in Orion.
A trip to Sunday’s Rochester Christmas parade ended badly for three people who were arrested at an Orion Township home.
At 5:15 p.m. the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call to a house on Homesite Street, where a 26-year-old Pontiac woman said she was assaulted by her stepfather when she attempted to pick up her 6-year-old son.
The report of the incident describes a busy scene. When deputies arrived, they discovered that the parties had been drinking, and that an earlier physical altercation on the way home from the parade had led to a second altercation on the front porch on Homesite. Deputies observed fresh marks and scratches on the stepfather which indicated that he had been assaulted.
When the woman admitted that was the case, she was arrested for domestic violence. As the investigation continued, the woman’s mother tried to get her daughter out of the police car, and she too was arrested.
All the while, deputies could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from the house; the younger woman reported that her stepfather was growing marijuana. Two deer carcasses that were not tagged were also discovered, and someone was seen walking away from the residence to avoid the police.
When it was all over, the two women and a 26-year-old Pontiac man were arrested, he on an outstanding bench warrant after he too obstructed police. The Department of Natural Resources and the sheriff’s Narcotics Enforcement Team were called in to investigate the deer and marijuana issues.
2 bail from stolen car
A 34-year-old Holly woman was arrested after she fled from a stolen car in the Baldwin Commons shopping center parking lot Nov. 30.
Sheriff’s deputies were sent to the parking lot after someone called to say he had blocked in a vehicle that had been stolen from a home in Pontiac. There were two people inside the stolen car, which rammed the other car before the two passengers fled on foot towards Baldwin.
A tracking dog was brought to the scene and the caller gave deputies a physical description of the pair. After a three-quarter-mile track, the suspects were found near the 4300 block of Baldwin and taken into custody without incident.
The woman went to jail. The second passenger, a 55-year-old Orion Township man, was released pending further investigation. The investigation was turned over to the sheriff’s Auto Theft Unit.
