Boy Scouts of America will close a Lake Orion's Camp Agawam—which it has operated since 1918—for the 2013 camping season.
The BSA Great Lakes Field Council said in a message on its website: "Our objective as always is to be good stewards of our programs and properties. ... This schedule is for the 2013 camping season only. A continuing review of our future camping requirement for 2014 and beyond will determine the needs for additional camp availabilities."
The camp at is 1301 W Clarkston Rd in Lake Orion.
Jim Huttenlocher, a Boy Scout volunteer, told WDIV: "This decision was agonizing. We knew we had to do it from a financial standpoint but we also knew we had to do it for the kids to give them the best experience possible."
