Car Hits Hamlin Pub in Lake Orion, Suspect Attempts to Flee
An intoxicated driver drove his car into the Lake Orion bar, fled the scene, resisted arrest and injured two deputies, according to a report from the Oakland County Sheriff's Deputies.
A man attempted to flee deputies and resisted arrest after hitting the Hamlin Pub on Lapeer Road with his car early Friday morning, according to a report from the Oakland County Sheriff's Office Orion Township Substation.
No one was injured in the bar, but two deputies were injured when the suspect resisted arrest, according to the report.
Deputies said the 23-year-old Orion Township resident hit the pub with his vehicle, then fled the scene before they arrived.
Lake Orion Village Police found the vehicle a short time later at Heights and Bellevue in Orion Township.
The driver failed his field sobriety test then tried to run away, according to the report. He physically resisted the deputies and Lake Orion officers trying to stop him. Deputies Tasered the suspect, and he was then taken into custody, police said.
Two deputies were injured during the arrest. One deputy received a laceration above his eye and the second deputy injured his wrist. Both were treated at McLaren Hospital.
