Catalytic Converters Stolen from Chevrolets in Lake Orion
Thefts are happening around lunch time in public places, police say.
Over the course of the past two weeks three catalytic converters have been reported stolen from vehicles in the Orion area, according to Lake Orion Police Chief Jerry Narsh.
The most recent incident took place around noon Monday. A catalytic converter was stolen off of a 2002 Chevrolet Venture that was parked in the Heritage Place parking lot in Lake Orion, Narsh said.
Police believe the converters are being cut off with portable cutters. All three of the cars that Narsh noted within the past two weeks were Chevrolets, he said.
“If anyone in the public sees someone underneath a car in a public parking lot they should contact the police and report what they witnessed,” Narsh said. “Likewise, if you come out of a restaurant and someone is under your car and you can see that, step back and call 911.”
Narsh noted these incidents are occurring around lunch time in public places. The other two incidents that Narsh referred to occurred at McDonald’s in Lake Orion and Buffalo Wild Wings.
