Republican incumbent Brad Jacobsen is now set to run against Democrat Daniel W. Sargent in the November election for state representative of the 46th District, after Sargent defeated David Jay Lillis in the Democratic primary race.
Jacobsen ran unopposed, but Sargent also had an easy victory after beating Lillis, 1,751 votes to 757 votes.
With a victory-margin of about 40 percent, Sargent will now look to unseat Jacobsen to represent a district that encompasses Orion Township and parts of Oakland Township in addition to Addison Township, Brandon Township and the Charter Township of Oxford.
Results are unofficial until confirmed by the Oakland County Clerk.
