Eagle Creek Academy first grade students hosted a schoolwide presidential election on Tuesday as part of an ongoing lesson on the election process.

The first grade students and their teachers, Mrs. Gamache and Mrs. Ciotti, created a voting booth outside of their classroom. Students were invited to fill out their ballots behind a screen, then place the ballots into a ballot box.

When the votes were tallied, Mitt Romney won by a margin of three votes.

"This was a fantastic opportunity for our students to learn about the election process firsthand," said Sandy Rosonke of Eagle Creek in a press release.

All the kids were SO excited to be active participants in their election!! They were still talking about it this morning!

As a mom, I'm so excited when I see school reinforce active, respectful and engaged citizenship. A key element in educating well-rounded kids, and our future leaders. Thanks Eagle Creek!!
