Give Dad Something Sweet For Father's Day
Sometimes the best way to dad's heart is through his sweet tooth.
For Mother's Day this year my dad told me to get my mom carrot cake cookies from Love & Buttercream.
His reason for telling me to do that? Because he wanted them.
To his dismay, I did not end up getting the 'delicious' and 'amazing' (as he describes them) cookies for my mom. I did however automatically contact Brooke Wilson, owner of Love & Buttercream, and place an order for 18 carrot cake cookies well in advance of Father's Day. Wilson currently works out of her family's house in Oakland Township and is still baking away for the holiday, but will soon be moving into a storefront in Royal Oak.
My parents live up north in Boyne City where I grew up, so I delivered the cookies to my father over the weekend during a trip home and my dad was thrilled with my sweet present. I did get him another gift as well, and though he is waiting to open it until Father's Day (even though I won't be there to celebrate), I'm quite certain it isn't going to trump the cookies.
If the fatherly figure in your life likes cookies, or other treats, as much as mine, here's a list of a few local places to find some sweets:
- Love & Buttercream
- Canterbury Fudge Shoppe in Orion
- Sweet Lane Fudge Factory in Orion
- Choo Choo's Chocolate in Oxford
- Rockin' Cupcakes in Rochester Hills
- Sanders in Rochester
- Paint Creek Cider Mill (for dads that like doughnuts) in Oakland Township
