How to Get Around The Brooksie Way

Here's what you need to know before you attempt to cross town on Sunday morning.

If you're not running or walking in the Brooksie Way — or cheering on a friend who is running or walking the half-marathon through Rochester and Rochester Hills — you're likely trying to stay away from it.

Here's what you need to know to avoid the road closures.

Starting at 7 a.m. Sunday, follow this story for live updates of road closings and openings. You can also follow us on Twitter (@RochesterPatch).

The basics

There are three races: the half-marathon, a 5K and a 1-mile fun run. They'll start, staggered, beginning at 8 a.m. at Meadow Brook Music Festival on the Oakland University campus.

The basic route for the half-marathon involves these roads and trails (follow the attached map for a visual):

  • Walton
  • Old Perch
  • Avon
  • Clinton River Trail
  • University (in downtown Rochester)
  • Pine Street (through the Rochester Municipal Park)
  • Paint Creek Trail

Glad I got this email reminder this morning. We received no warning from our condo association. I am playing in the church band this morning and would have missed the service! I was also able to move my wife's car in time so she won't miss it either.
