The Stoney Creek High School varsity cheer team earned a trip to the state finals with a 775.64 score in the regional finals Saturday.

The varsity cheer teams from Stoney Creek and Rochester high schools travel to Grand Rapids today to compete in the MHSAA Division 1 state finals.
The teams finished first (Stoney Creek) and second (Rochester) at regionals in Troy last weekend to advance to the championship.

The cheer finals will be shown live on the MHSAA online TV channel here; the broadcast begins at 6 p.m.
Competing against the two Rochester schools for the Division 1 title: 2012 champion Southgate Anderson, East Kentwood, Grandville, Hartland, Hudsonville and Sterling Heights Stevenson.
Stoney Creek brought home the state title in 2010; Rochester placed first in 2009 and 2007.
