Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson took the oath of office Monday for his sixth four-year term as the county’s leader.
He was sworn-in by Clerk/Register of Deeds Bill Bullard as members of his staff looked on, according to a news release.
“Oakland County leads Michigan in job attraction, technology, fiscal management, and quality of life,” Patterson said. “The next four years of my administration will focus on continuing to innovate in these areas.”
Patterson was first elected county executive in 1992; before that, he served four terms as county prosecutor.

I would like to see Mr. Patterson appear in public service announcements for seat belt usage. His personal experience in recent months could be put to good use in convincing those still driving without seat belts to get on board before it's too late.
