Lake Orion Runners, Walkers Finish Detroit Marathon
There were 21 local runners who participated in the big race on Sunday.

Congratulations to the Lake Orion-area runners in Sunday's Detroit Free Press/Talmer Bank Marathon and Half Marathon.
Two Russian winners were the top finishers in the men and women's categories: Viacheslav Shabunin, 43, won the men’s race in 2:25:26; Liubov Denisova, 41, won the women’s race in 2:46:33.
There were 21 local runners who participated in the marathon; John Birmingham of Lake Orion finished first in his division with a time of 4:31:54, according to the official results at Active.com.
In all, more than 24,000 people ran or walked in one of the events Sunday morning; it was the 35th year of the race, which also featured a half-marathon event.

Congratulations to my dad, John Birmingham, who ran his 10th marathon and as you said, WON his age division. Pretty impressive for a 72-year-old guy. We are all very proud of him :)
