1-car crash injures 2

A 22-year-old Lake Orion man was one of two people seriously injured in a two-car crash in Pontiac early Saturday morning.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor, and the Oakland County Sheriff’s Crash Reconstruction Unit is investigating. The crash occurred on North Cass Avenue north of Wisner Street around 1:30 a.m. Nov. 24.

The driver, a 21-year old Pontiac man, was driving a 1993 Ford Mustang convertible southbound when he lost control and ran off the road to the right, hitting two large fence posts and a cinder-block building.  The car continued head-on into the wall of a second cinder-block building, hitting an unoccupied 2010 Lincoln MKX parked inside head-on.  The two buildings are commercial buildings that were unoccupied at the time.

The Orion man was a passenger in the Ford.  Both men were transported to McLaren Hospital in Pontiac, where they were listed in critical condition. A search warrant for a blood sample from the driver was obtained.

Retail fraud

Two teenage girls were detained Nov. 25 after being caught shoplifting at the Lapeer Road K-Mart. The girls, ages 16 and 17 and both from Lake Orion, admitted it wasn’t their first time. The older girl was ticketed; the younger girl will be petitioned to juvenile court.

Defrauding an innkeeper

An intoxicated 43-year-old Pontiac woman was ticketed after she fled without paying her $13.25 tab at Kruse & Muer on Lapeer Road Nov. 22. Employees said it wasn’t the first time she had done so. She first fled to a waiting car, but when the driver realized what was going on he kicked her out. She then fled over a fence and escaped. She was caught when she arranged to get back her purse the next day.  She also had an outstanding summons for a previous incident of disorderly conduct.
