Before you head out to walk, bike or run between Rochester and Lake Orion, know that you might need to plan an alternate path.
Part of the Paint Creek Trail will be closed to through-traffic for four weeks starting Tuesday. The City of Rochester Hills will be making repairs to the three bridges between Tienken and Dutton Roads. Because the trail will be "severed," there is no detour for those who run or bike or walk on the trail — you will not be able to get through the work area.
The Trail will be severed for a total of four weeks and be closed to through-traffic. Please plan your trip accordingly. You will not be able get through the work area.
The Paint Creek Trail is 8.9 miles long. It travels from south of Ludlow Street in Rochester, near the Rochester Municipal Park, to Atwater Street in Lake Orion.

People who want to use the trail can just use Livernois as a detour. It is just west of the trail. A nice dirt road.

Just watch for fast drivers on that stretch of Livernois. I've walked that section and there are curves where drivers might not see pedestrians.

I was chased by big dogs on Livernois & won't go back there. Suggest you bike other trails like Clinton River or Macomb Orchard.

Unbelievable ...In what has to be described as the worst driving summer in decades, due to construction, they even close the trail... I know one business that is not suffering in this bad economy. The ones who make orange cones..
Runners and bikers...I would not recommend Livernois. There is very little room and and the road curves alot. It is far too dangerous to be using as a pedestrian. .
