Pistons Point Guard's Bank Accounts Hacked; Caller Harasses Elderly Woman

A 79-year-old Oakland Township woman received two harassing phone calls just after noon Saturday from an unknown male who knew the woman by name, according to an report.

The caller, who identified the woman by name, said he had $250,000 in cash for her, then asked if she was home alone. The woman said she was not interested in the money and that she was not home alone. The suspect then told the elderly woman "(expletive) you," and hung up, according to the report.

About 20 minutes later, the same individual called again and asked for the woman by name, the report said. The woman said she was going to call the police now, and the caller told the woman to "(expletive) off" before he hung up, the report said.

The two calls were from an unlisted number, according to the report, and the woman was advised to call 911 if she sees or hears anything suspicious at her home.

Credit cards stolen, used fraudulently

Detroit Pistons point guard Will Bynum filed a report at the Oakland Township substation Nov. 11 when he discovered that two of his credit cards had been fraudulently used to purchase thousands of dollars worth of merchandise in his hometown of Chicago, including $488 spent at Abercrombie & Fitch, according to a Sheriff's Office report.

Bynum recognized one of the individuals who was listed as a purchaser on one of the fraudulent transactions as an employee at an athletic club in Chicago where Bynum trains in the off season, according to the report. Further contact with Chicago police may be required; the case is closed pending further local leads.
