Police Blotter: Man Arrested for Stealing Property From Vehicles

Man arrested after allegedly stealing from vehicles
A 30-year-old Orion Township man was arrested early Sunday morning after an Oakland Township Substation deputy noticed suspicious activity near the corner of West Gunn Road and Bold Meadows.
According to the report a deputy traveling along Gunn Road noticed that someone was near a vehicle on Bold Meadows and he decided to investigate. A Chevy truck was found unoccupied, running with the driver's side door open, said the report.
When the deputy approached he noticed a variety of items, including several electronic devices and a pair of sunglasses in the truck, said the report. The deputy requested backup to search the area and, according to the report, the deputy contacted caught up with an Orion Township man on Greenshield Road near Kern Road.
The other deputy decided to search the Bold Meadow area and noticed that a house located on the 4000 block of Bold Meadow had its garage door open and the vehicles parked inside the garage had its doors opened as well. Contents including a manila envelope, leather bag and more were found on the ground near the driveway, said the report. The deputy made contact with the homeowner, who confirmed that the contents found near the driveway were his.
After further investigation the electronic devices were found to belong to two different homeowners residing on the 4000 block of Kenirey Lane, the report noted. The owners of the electronic devices both found that their cars had been broken into. Both said they did not lock their car doors, said the report.
The Chevy truck, which was found to be connected to the Orion Township man after a K-9 traced the truck to the responsible party, was impounded and the Orion Township man was arrested and jailed for home invasion and stealing property from vehicles according to the report.
Cleaning and car supplies stolen from vehicle
On Monday an Oakland Township Substation deputy was dispatched to the 2000 block of Pebble Beach Drive for a report of a larceny from a vehicle.
A 33-year-old Oakland Township man reported that sometime between 9:30 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. Monday about $200 worth of cleaning and car supplies were stolen from his 1999 Ranger pickup truck, said the report. According to the report the man said his truck was locked while parked in the driveway and that someone had opened the back tailgate taking a Tupperware box filled with miscellaneous items.
The man recalled that a black sports car had pulled in front of his house between 8:30 and 9 p.m. on Sunday, but that was the only suspicious activity he could recall, said the report.
Woman reports possible burglary attempt
On Thursday a 53-year-old Oakland Township woman stopped into the Oakland Township Substation to report a possible attempt at home invasion.
According to the report two weeks prior to the woman reporting the incident, the woman was sleeping in her house on the 3000 block of Pear Tree Court when she was woken up by her dogs growling late at night. The woman said she decided to get out of bed and see what the dogs were growling about and noticed that outside there were lights flickering in her yard, said the report. Since she couldn’t see anything else, she decided to wait for the next day to inspect further, the report noted.
The following day her husband checked the area around the house and according to the report he found that the east side back door had some pry marks on it. Nothing else suspicious has occurred since that night according to the report.
