Drunk male runs from police
On Sunday night, while on patrol, Lake Orion Police officers noticed a male dressed in all black walking behind closed businesses at 385 S. Broadway St. in Lake Orion. According to a police report the officers watched as he walked behind McDonalds and then behind Broadway Grill after hopping the wall dividing the two businesses. According to the report the officers pursued him and yelled out to him after he was near National City Bank.
The male, later determined as a 21-year-old from Leonard, ran away from the police after they called out to him. The report noted that he ran across the road and into the backyards of houses. The officers found the 21-year-old hiding in the bushes and arrested him. He wasn’t carrying any suspicious items, according to the report, and apologized for running away, noting that he was just walking from the bar to a friend’s house.
Officers issued the man a Personal Breathalyzer Test and he blew a .104. He was issued a citation for obstructing police and was released.
Drunk driver arrested
Around 1:30 a.m. Saturday a Lake Orion Police officer observed a tan Mercury Mountaineer driving 47 mph in a 35 mph zone along South Broadway Street. According to the police department’s report, after observing the car weaving and crossing into the other lane, the officer pulled the vehicle over. The driver pulled into the Admiral Gas station parking lot, said the report. The driver’s eyes were glossy and the report stated that there was a strong odor of intoxicants.
The 25-year-old driver from Lapeer was unable to find identification to give to the police officer and admitted he was too drunk to drive, said the report. After failing a variety of tests, including reciting the alphabet and being unable to touch his finger to his nose, the police officer issued a Personal Breathalyzer Test to test his blood alcohol content, said the report. The driver blew a .201 and was arrested, according to the report. He was given a ticket for expired plates and speeding and then transported to the Oakland County Jail. A warrant request was then forwarded by the police department to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s office to give the man a High BAC Super Drunk citation. The passenger was a 23-year-old male from Davison; he was given a ride home.
