Taylor Perry – Rochester High School (Boys Basketball): Taylor Perry scored a game-high 21 points to go along with 10 rebounds and four assists for the Rochester Falcons in a 62-35 Crosstown Showdown victory over rival Adams. Perry is a 6-foot-4 wing who is headed to Western Michigan.
Alli Costine – Clawson High School (Girls Basketball): Alli Costine nearly had a triple-double with 10 points, 22 rebounds and seven assists against New Haven on Tuesday. Two days later, Costine had a game-high 20 points in a 47-28 win over East Detroit to help the Clawson High School Trojans start the season 3-0 in the Macomb Area Conference Silver.
Nathan Stepney – Ferndale High School (Boys Basketball): Nathan Stepney has easily stepped in to his role as Ferndale’s top scorer. The Eagles won two games this week and Stepney was the team’s leading scorer in both of them. He had 29 points and seven rebounds in Ferndale’s 69-59 win over city rival University High School. On Friday, he had 19 points and six rebounds in a 63-56 win over Lake Orion.
Maceo Baston – Troy High School (Boys Basketball): Maceo Baston is helping Troy hit its stride this month. He helped the Colts overcome foul trouble by James Young on Tuesday and his 16 points, 11 in the second half, gave them a 54-51 win on the road at Lahser. On Saturday, he had 21 points and 11 rebounds in a win over Detroit Community.
Ashley Moskal – Avondale High School (Gymnastics) – The senior is co-captain of the Troy Athens and Avondale varsity gymnastics team. This past weekend at the Haslett Invitational, she recorded personal bests in all events to help her team finish second with a season high 145.625 to the four-time defending State Champions from Grand Ledge. Individually, she won four of the five events – vault (9.60; first place), bars (9.60; second place), beam (9.85; first place), floor (9.85; first place) and all around (38.90; first place).
