Week in Review: Man Climbs Mountain for Charity, Blossom Ridge Approved
Here's what's been happening in and around Oakland Township in the past week.
A lot happened in and around Oakland Township this week and we want to make sure you heard about it all, so we picked out some of the highlights from the past week to catch you up:
- Planning Commission approves Blossom Ridge: It’s on to the next planning phase for Moceri Development, which received approval from the Oakland Township Planning Commission on Tuesday to move forward with the Blossom Ridge project.
- Volunteer efforts: On Tuesday, we featured Michael Balian, a Lake Orion resident who plans to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania at the end of February. He hopes to raise $5,000 for Lighthouse of Oakland County by doing so.
- Baking tips: With Valentine's Day approaching, we decided to interview Brooke Wilson, owner of Love & Buttercream in Oakland Township, about baking tips. We posted three articles with easy how-to videos throughout the week: how to make frosting, stuff cupcakes with fillings and how to make chocolate toppers.
- Looking ahead: Oakland University will host a job fair Feb. 23 with an emphasis on IT and engineering jobs. Goldfish Swim School is set to open its pools March 19 in Rochester. The business will be located at 330 South St. and already has about 500 people registered for classes. Author of Lethal, Sandra Brown, will be speaking at the Rochester Church of Christ in Rochester Hills on March 22. We also reported well in advance that the 5th Annual Brooksie Way Half-Marathon is set for Sept. 30 in Rochester.
