A lot happened in and around Oakland Township this week and we want to make sure you heard about it all, so Patch is giving you a week in review. We picked out some of the highlights from the past week to catch you up to speed:
- Seasonings Becomes Oakland Township's Newest Café: On Tuesday Seasonings, located at 4505 Collins Rd., officially opened for business. The cafe is run by Oakland Township resident Sue Wood and Oxford resident Dinah Brinson.
- Rochester Teacher Killed in Bloomfield Murder-Suicide: The area was struck by tragedy last week when beloved French teacher Susan Jarrell, who taught at Stoney Creek High School and Hart Middle School in Rochester, was killed Tuesday night. Susan Jarrell, who was apparently killed by her ex-husband, Kenneth Jarrell, outside of his home in Bloomfield Township before he turned the gun on himself.
- Library's Gets New Bookmobile: The Rochester Hills Public Library has busiest bookmobile in the state and for that reason it has decided to add another. Library director Christine Hage hopes to see the bookmobile in service come Feb. 1.
- School happenings: The Rochester Community School's Board of Education discussed details of all-day kindergarten at Monday night's meeting. Oakland County Prosecutor Jessica Cooper visited Lake Orion High School on Monday evening to discuss inappropriate uses of social media and smartphones. Also this week, third-graders from Musson Elementary School in Rochester Hills got a taste of Native American culture during their field trip to Dinosaur Hill Nature Preserve.
- Sports: The Rochester High School Falcons won the Crosstown Showdown at Oakland University on Friday night, defeating the Adams High School Highlanders 62-35.

Seasonings is excellent! Butternut squash soup and pecan pie, my choices for first visit, were tops. I think I need to eat my way through the menu :) Bright decor, and friendly service, too.
