Your Guide to Summer Music in Lake Orion and Oakland Township
From Music in the Meadows to bands performing at Wildwood and Children's Park, this summer will be full of music.
Summer in Orion and Oakland Township is full of free, outdoor concerts featuring bands playing bluegrass, classic rock, jazz tunes and more.
Here's a look at the many opportunities to attend a concert in the area.
Wildwood's musical talent is all lined up
In Orion Township, concerts are held at Wildwood, the new amphitheater located in the southwest corner of Civic Center Park. Bands will take the stage starting at 7 p.m. every Tuesday, beginning June 19 and ending Aug. 28. Two Thursday night concerts, planned for July 19 and Aug. 9, are also scheduled in the mix.
The North Oakland Concert Band, which has over 60 members, will perform numerous times at Wildwood this summer, starting with a movie sound track-themed concert entitled 'A Night At the Movies' on June 19.

Summer concerts in Lake Orion
The Downtown Lake Orion Gazebo Concert Series in Children's Park are from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesdays following the Farmers Market and start July 11 and run through Aug. 15.
Listen to Music in the Meadows
In Oakland Township, residents will be able to enjoy a couple free concerts in the parks. At 7 p.m. on June 22, Detour, a Michigan-based bluegrass band, will be performing at Bear Creek Nature Park. The next concert will fall on July 20 at 7 p.m. with The Winthrop Winds performing at Cranberry Lake Park, located at 388 W. Predmore Rd. The tunes by The Winthrop Winds quintet combine pop, classical and world music.
