Baker College to host BPA Leadership Conference

Baker College of Auburn Hills will host the Business Professionals of America (BPA) Regional Leadership Conference on its campus, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday, Jan. 10, 2014.

Approximately 485 area high school BPA student members will participate in the event, competing for regional awards in more than 50 categories under five primary classifications: finance; business administration; management information systems; digital communication and design; and management, marketing and communications.

“For more than two decades, Baker College has supported the efforts of BPA as it helps prepare outstanding Michigan high school students for leadership roles by enhancing their civic responsibility, technology and business skills,” said Jeff Love, Baker College of Auburn Hills president. “These incredible young men and women make us proud to once again be part of this worthwhile endeavor.”

Participating schools include Chippewa Valley High School, Dakota High School, Fraser High School, L'Anse Creuse Frederick V. Pankow Center, Mount Clemens High School, Oakland Schools Technical Campus, Southeastern High School, Rochester Adams High School, Rochester High School, Stoney Creek High School, Troy Athens High School, Troy High School, Warren Career Preparation Center AM, Warren Career Preparation Center PM, Warren Lincoln High School and Waterford Kettering High School.

Finalists are eligible for the State Leadership Conference, March 20 – 23, in Grand Rapids, followed by the National Leadership Conference, April 30 - May 4, in Indianapolis, Ind.

Business Professionals of America is a national career and technical student organization with 23 state associations, more than 2,300 chapters and 43,000 members. The Michigan BPA has approximately 170 chapters and more than 4,600 members.
