Stony Creek Gets Jump-Start on Summer with Campground Bookings

The Metropark already has started taking reservations for its family-friendly camping weekends at Ridgewood Campground.

It may not be camping weather just yet, but Stony Creek Metropark isn't wasting any time in booking site reservations for its Ridgewood Campground.

Located one mile from the park's Eastwood Beach, and two miles from the Nature Center, Ridgewood opened last summer and currently offers 45 "rustic campsites," of which two are handicap-accessible and four are primitive walk-in only.

Two larger sites are also available that can accommodate larger groups with more tents or campers.

Enjoying a positive response to last year's family-friendly camping weekends, the park is planning seven more of these special weekends this summer and fall.

Stony Creek is currently booking site reservations for May 31-June 2, June 21-23, July 12-14, July 26-28, Aug. 9-11, Aug. 30-Sept. 2 and Oct. 11-13.

While tents, campers and motor homes are allowed, there are no hookups for water or electricity available at the campsites and generators are only allowed at four designated sites. However, campers do have 24-hour access to restrooms, with showers available at the Eastwood Beach bathhouse.

The standard campsite fee is $40 per weekend, while the premium campsite fee doubles at $80 per weekend. For the three-day Labor Day Weekend, campsites will be available for $20 per night/standard site, and $40/night premium site, although both have a two night minimum. Park entry is charged separately.

Pre-registration with a full non-refundable payment is recommended.
