Cider Mill Season Starts Today in Oakland Township

The Goodison Cider Mill, Rochester Cider Mill and Paint Creek Cider Mill are open for business.

After eight months of waiting, Oakland Township's cider mills are opening their doors to dish out delicious cider, fresh doughnuts and other tasty treats just in time for the long weekend–and township residents are ready.

"I've gone there (Goodison Cider Mill) every fall since I was a kid," columnist Tiffany Dziurman Stozicki commented on Facebook. "I like that they make their own cider."

"They (Goodison Cider Mill) have the best cider, and they rarely have those never-ending lines," Tammy Witt O'Connor commented.

Patch reader Ann-Marie Grant-McCardell said she plans to visit Rochester Cider Mill, commenting, "I drive past it 100 times a week."

Christine Berns Garrett also said she would visit the Rochester Cider Mill because it is convenient.

"I love Paint Creek (Cider Mill) for the ambiance, but we like to bike or walk as family, and trying to cross Orion is a nightmare," she added.

The officially opens for business today and will be open until the end of the year. The cider mill, located on Rochester Road between Mead and Snell roads, features unpasteurized cider in several flavors, fresh pies, homemade apple crisp, doughnuts, caramel apples, fudge and more. The has been open since March and recently began advertising made on the premises and cider, which the cider mill receives from local distributors. The Paint Creek Cider Mill is conveniently located just off of the Paint Creek Trail at the Gallagher Road crossing and is open 9 a.m.-7 p.m. seven days a week through the fall. The Goodison Cider Mill is also located near the Paint Creek Trail on Orion Road in downtown Goodison. The cider mill will open some time today to begin selling apple cider that is made on the premises, according to a representative from the cider mill. The cider mill will begin selling homemade doughnuts on Saturday. The Goodison Cider Mill will be open 9 a.m.-6 p.m. seven days a week through Thanksgiving, then Friday through Sunday until Christmas.
