Garage Grill & Fuel Bar in Northville: The new restaurant offers a full bar, a pizza oven, an outdoor patio and an American menu with pasta, steaks, seafood, burgers and salads. Garage is open for dinner daily at 5 p.m.; it is expected to open for lunch by early December. The restaurant gets its name from the building's historic use as a gas station. It was first built in the 1940s as an Atchinson Gulf service station. The restaurant is located at 202 W. Main St.
Hogger's BBQ in Berkley: The Southern barbecue restaurant has closed. A last-minute lease dispute put the brakes on the 2012 Berkley Patch Readers' Choice award-winner's reopening, which had been scheduled for Nov. 26.
Jersey Mike's in Rochester Hills: The East Coast-style sub shop opened Wednesday. Jersey Mike's puts a premium on freshness, slicing meat, cutting vegetables, brewing tea iced tea and baking bread. The sub shop at 2670 Rochester Road is open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Call 248-293-5260 for more information.
Pete's Place in Ferndale: The Broadway-themed eatery at 1225 Woodward Heights closed its doors as of 9 p.m. Nov. 25. The menu offered a variety of American, Italian, vegetarian and seafood options. "The last four and a half years here have been some of the most interesting, fun, touching times of our lives," an announcement on the restaurant's Web page said.
Stoney River Steakhouse in Birmingham: The City Commission approved plans to turn the former Max & Erma's spot at 250 Merrill St. into a steakhouse. Fred Timm, president of the Stoney River chain, said his restaurants offer high-quality service at a lower price point than most steakhouses, with entrees in the $35-$40 range. Timm said he had hoped to open in April 2013 but may have to push that date back depending on the city's plan to replace the sidewalks along Merrill next spring.
