5 Days Until School: 5 First-Day-of-School Breakfast Ideas

Preparing a special breakfast is one way to make your child's first day of school memorable while giving them the energy they'll need to make it through the morning.

So instead of dishing out the usual bowl of cereal, check out these five first-day-of-school breakfast ideas:

1. Muffins. From blueberry to banana nut and chocolate chip, freshly baked muffins can be a warm and delicious treat on the first day of school.
2. Pancakes. Many pancake mixes are available at most grocery stores, including some that require only water (and a hot griddle). French toast is also an option, and don't forget the syrup!
3. Oatmeal. For a hearty first-day-of-school breakfast, make some oatmeal and have your child choose his or her own toppings.
4. Cinnamon rolls. A less healthy option, but hey, the first day of school only happens once a year, right? Pre-made cinnamon rolls as well as refrigerated rolls of raw dough can be found at most grocery stores.
