Here's what's happening in and around Oakland Township this week.

Warm weather: Temperatures are on the rise today with a high near 64 degrees, according to the National Weather Service forecast. Though today will be mostly cloudy and slightly windy, the rest of the week is supposed to be mostly sunny with highs in the mid-60s, even reaching 70 degrees by Friday, forecasters say. Evening lows are expected to dip to the mid-40s or higher.

One township meeting this week: A Planning Commission meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday at . The request is on the agenda, along with a Goodison plan update.

: The League of Women Voters has organized a forum beginning at 7 tonight between the five candidates running for three board positions. Each term is for six years. Audience members will have the opportunity to submit questions to be asked at the forum at the . Candidates are , , Tom Malysz, and .

Homecoming: homecoming events kicked off Sunday and run through Saturday. Festivities include a pep assembly at 1:30 p.m. today, green and white day, outdoor lunch, a parade and more. The homecoming game starts at 7 p.m. Friday against Troy Athens. Crowning of the homecoming king and queen will occur during halftime of the football game, and the homecoming dance will be from 7:30-10:30 p.m. Saturday.

Holiday swap: The Great Big Hugger Holiday Swap fundraiser will take place from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday at . Tickets cost $12 at the door. Residents should bring their gently used holiday décor, apparel and more to swap. For added fun, the Hugger PTA, which is sponsoring the event, decided to put a spin on the swap, giving anybody attending up to five clips for each item he or she brings to the swap. Attendees may place their clips on items they want, and if multiple people want the same item, a drawing will take place. Additional clips may be purchased, four for $10. Any items left over at the end of the night will be donated to charity.
