5 Things to Know This Week

Here's what's happening in Oakland Township this week.

Less than a month till school starts: In case you haven't been paying attention, school starts for all three school districts — Rochester, Romeo and Oakland Township — on Sept. 6, leaving less than one month to prepare. Luckily, Oakland Township Patch has already started putting together back-to-school tips, tricks and helpful information to get you and the children ready for school, and we'll keep posting a new tip every day in the 31 days leading up to the first day of school. Today's back-to-school tip is about school bus safety, and we've also covered and .

Showers, then sun in the forecast: While there's a chance of showers in the forecast today and tomorrow, according to the National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac, the latter part of the week is supposed to be dry, sunny and not too hot. High temperatures will be in the low- to mid-80s today and tomorrow before falling into the mid-70s for the rest of the week; Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are supposed to be partly to mostly sunny.

Two meetings this week: The Oakland Township Board of Trustees will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at . The meeting is open to the public; a meeting agenda was not yet posted at oaklandtownship.org as of Sunday evening. The Oakland Township Parks and Recreation Commission will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Paint Creek Cider Mill.
