Baseball: Lake Orion's Nick Deeg Named Metro Detroit's Player of the Year

MLive names Lake Orion lefty the region's best player.

A local prep baseball standout and Detroit Tigers prospect can add another accolade to his growing list of accomplishments. 

Nick Deeg, the flame-throwing lefty from Lake Orion, was named MLive's Metro Detroit Player of the Year

MLive's Jared Purcell writes:

"Not only was Nick Deeg the best pitcher in the Metro Detroit area this year, he graduates from Lake Orion as one of the best pitchers in state history.

"Deeg finished with an with a state record single-season ERA of 0.09 in 74.66 innings, making him a menace for any opponent he faced. He tossed 99 strikeouts and finished with a 10-0 record. Named as an all-state Dream Team Member by the MHSBCA, Deeg is a leading candidate to be named the recipient of the Mr. Baseball award."

Deeg was drafted in the 37th round by the Detroit Tigers in this year's MLB Draft, and has committed to play collegiate ball at Central Michigan University.
