Is There a Pie That Tastes (and Looks) Like Homemade Near Oakland Township and Lake Orion?

It's November. The family is preparing a feast. Someone asks you to bring pie.

Maybe you don't bake. Or maybe you do but you're too busy to get it done before Nov. 22.

Either way, you need a pie, pronto. Where do you turn?

A quick and unscientific ask on Lake Orion-Oakland Township Patch Facebook says the best pies around can be found at Sam's Club, Costco and Achatz.

Pro-homemade pie advocates, however, were adamant that it would be homemade or nothing for them. Ann-Marie Grant- McCardell, wrote, "Buy Pie????"

And then reader Jane Morrison Snage said: "Make some and buy some from Achatz." The best of both worlds!

Well the good news for Achatz fans: They will be open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, and from 7 a.m.-1 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. The nearest location is 960 North Lapeer Rd. in Oxford.

Sam's Club in Auburn Hills is open 10 a.m.-8:30 p.m. for regular members (those with early privelanges can start at 7 a.m.). And Costco in Auburn Hills is open 10 a.m. - 8:30 p.m.

The other favorite spot for pie in Lake Orion and Oakland Township seems to be lot of your homes! Homeade pie advocates were very vocal in our Facebook discussion.

And we would NEVER advocate lying to family and loved ones, but if that's how you go, you can even find directions on the Internet for making your storebought pie look homemade.

But that's a slippery slope, people. Just fess up and bring the best you can!
