Lack of Snow Results in Cancellation of Winter Carnival

The Parks and Recreation Department has canceled the event scheduled for Feb. 4.

After reviewing the forecast, the Parks and Recreation Department has officially cancelled the annual , which was scheduled for Feb. 4 at .

To go forward with the event, about four inches of snow accumulation would have been necessary. The forecast, according to the National Weather Service, calls for about one to two inches of snow accumulation on Saturday, and less than an inch Sunday. High temperatures throughout next week are forecasted to hover between 34 and 42 degrees, with rain showers highlighting the forecast.

Coloring pages that were included in the Parks and Recreation Department's winter newsletter for the coloring contest at the Winter Carnival can be dropped off or mailed to the Township Parks Department for entry. Coloring page submissions must have name, contact information and the best time to be contacted on the back of the page.

The mailing address for entries is 4393 Collins Rd., Rochester, MI 48306. Drop off submissions at the Parks and Recreation Office located at the building from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
