UPDATE: Severe Thunderstorm Warning Over, But More Rain On the Way

The rain-then-sun-then-rain weather is expected to continue into tonight.

Update, 4:30 p.m. The thunderstorm warning has expired, but the rain continues to pour down across the area, taking turns with bouts of sun. The rain is expected to continue through tonight.

Update, 3:45 p.m. The thunderstorm "watch" has been changed to a "warning" for northern Oakland County.

The National Weather Service warned of penny-sized hail that may accompany the damaging winds expected to head through the area. The warning is in effect until 4:15 p.m.

2:15 p.m. The National Weather Service in Pontiac has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for 17 counties in southeastern Michigan, including Oakland County, until 7 p.m. Wednesday.

During a severe thunderstorm watch, conditions are favorable for development of severe weather, reports the National Weather Service.

If a severe thunderstorm warning is issued, the National Weather Service advises residents to stay indoors and away from areas with loose items that could become flying debris.

Rain and storms are expected to continue Thursday and Friday.
