Triple Digit Weather: Heat Index Forecast Is 110 Degrees Today

Actual temperature could hit 100; excessive heat warning in effect through 10 p.m.

Temperatures likely will hit triple digits today as the heat dome smothering southeast Michigan continues.

Today is expected to be the hottest day of the heat wave so far. High temperatures will make a run toward 100 degrees, and the high humidity will help boost heat index values to between 105 and 110 stifling degrees this afternoon and evening.

"The heat wave this week is expected to be of the longest duration since July of 1995," reports the National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac.
