Winter Storm Watch Calls for Up to 6 Inches of Snow

Just in time for this weekend's Fire & Ice Festival, snow is finally in the forecast for the Oakland Township area.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for all of southeast Michigan with predictions of as much as half a foot of snow by Friday morning.

According to the alert, a low pressure system is expected to move into the area Thursday evening, bringing with it a mix of rain and snow that will change over to all snow Thursday night.

The snow will be welcome in downtown Rochester this weekend, where the annual Fire & Ice Festival is set to take place. Ice sculptures will be on display around town, and a fireworks show is planned for Friday night.
