UPDATE: Winter Weather Advisory in Effect; Hundreds Without Power in Oakland Township

Rain will change over to snow tonight and into tomorrow.

The National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac has issued a Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 7 p.m. Tuesday until 7 a.m. Wednesday.

Rain will change over to snow this evening and continue overnight. The snow, which may be heavy at times, should taper off by morning; total snowfall accumulations will range from 1-4 inches.

The drop in temperature will cause icy road conditions; untreated roads will be slippery for the Wednesday morning commute, warns the weather service.

As of 7:15 p.m., nearly 500 customers in several areas of Oakland Township were without power with the highest concentration of power outages occurring along Predmore and Romeo roads, according to the DTE Energy outage map.
