Your Guide to the Weekend Around Lake Orion and Oakland Township

The Green Living Festival, Lions Club Jubilee and Pet-A-Palooza are just a few of the events around town this weekend.

From 6 p.m.-midnight on Friday, Sister Souls, Inc. is hosting a Party For a Cause to benefit the ; three local children fighting terminal diseases. The event, which will take place at the , costs $10 per person and food will be provided on-site. There will also be a cash bar and a silent auction featuring 50 gift baskets and prizes. A romantic night at The Townsend Hotel, gift certificates to salons and autographed sports memorabilia are just a few of the items up for auction. Residents can enjoy a weekend full of carnival fun at the Lake Orion Lions Club's Jubilee at Canterbury Village. The carnival will be open from noon-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and noon-6 p.m. on Sunday. Wristbands for unlimited access to rides cost $20 each. An arts and crafts fair will also take place at Canterbury Village on Friday and Saturday. All proceeds from the Jubilee benefit the Lions Club's community projects. If you haven't tasted the pizza at the yet, Saturday's the time to do it. From noon-5 p.m. on Saturday the Paint Creek Cider Mill will be passing out samples of its pizza for free.

Lake Orion Fireworks Annual Breakfast

From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday the Lake Orion Fireworks Association is hosting its annual breakfast fundraiser at the Lake Orion Boat Club. The cost of breakfast is $12 for adults and $6 for children under the age of 12. There will be a free shuttle service available on Sunday. People will be picked up at the dock behind Lighthouse Law Center, located at 436 S. Broadway in Lake Orion. The proceeds benefit the fireworks show in Lake Orion, which is scheduled for June 30. If you can't make it to the breakfast but want to help the firework fund you can purchase raffle tickets at a variety of local businesses including , and . Tickets are $25 each and prizes ranging from $50-$10,000 will be awarded to the winners.

It's one of the largest gatherings of natural and organic products and services around, and it's happening in downtown Rochester this weekend. The festival is 4-9 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. It will take place at the corner of Third and Water streets in downtown Rochester. A "Party for the Planet," featuring live music and other entertainment behind the , will coincide with the festival from 4-10 p.m. Friday, 12-10 p.m. Saturday and 12-5 p.m. Sunday. .

From 9 a.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday, celebrate life and raise money for cancer research at Hart Middle School. Hundreds of people are participating in the 24-hour event; the public is invited to attend — there is no admission charge and plenty of nonstop entertainment and activities on site.

It's one of the largest animal adoption events in the nation, and it's happening from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Palace of Auburn Hills.
