2014 CAMPS

Making Art, Making Museums
Explore Cranbrook Art Museum from the front doors to the vault. Use your observations to design your own museum—and the art in it! You choose what your museum will collect, create objects for your collection, and curate your exhibition. You’ll learn how museums work, build a model of your museum, and create scale replicas of your own artwork to “install” in your model.

Problem Solved by Design
Designers tinker, investigate, sketch, and make! From chairs to cars, designers make the objects around us, solving problems beautifully. Identify design problems and create your own 2D and 3D design solutions for furniture, toys, and more—with inspiration from work from famous designers including Charles and Ray Eames, Florence Knoll, and George Nelson.

Architecture Superstar
Starchitecture is architecture of the superstar architects. They create the icons of cities and are on the covers of architectural magazines. Now it’s your turn! Learn about architectural drawings and model making, and use your skills to design a masterpiece. Then consider how your design relates to the community and the everyday architecture that surrounds it.
