Feature Photo: Flag Raising Ceremony at Cranberry Lake Farm

Monday night's ceremony brought about 60 people together to celebrate the bicentennial of the adoption of the declaration of war.

Oakland Township resident Janine Saputo called Monday night's Flag Raising Ceremony at Cranberry Lake Farm a 'Pure Michigan moment', as residents enjoyed a beautiful night for the patriotic event.

Along with watching as a fifteen star flag was raised, residents enjoyed a presentation of colors, the attendance of a uniformed soldier and a live performance of the Star Spangled Banner.

The Oakland Township Historical Society and the Historic District Commission worked together to arrange the event, which commemorated the 200th anniversary of the start of the War of 1812.
