Orion Woman Catches Jewelry Thief Leaving Her Home

The man fled the scene but was later found, arrested and charged with home invasion.

A Lake Orion woman arrived at her home Thursday night and watched as a man came out of the front door and fled from her home.

The woman discovered cash and jewelry missing, according to a report from the Oakland County Sheriff's Office. The incident happened at 8:45 p.m. in the 100 block of Casemer, near Lapeer Road north of Scripps Road. 

The suspected thief, a 24-year-old Orion Township man, was caught at 4 a.m. Friday in the Village of Orion with the jewelry that was missing from the home, the report stated.

"At the time of his arrest, the suspect appeared to be under the influence of narcotics," the report stated.

The man was awaiting arraignment on charges of home invasion; he was lodged in the Oakland County Jail.
