Police Blotter: $4400 Cash Stolen From Catalina Lounge and More

Highlights from reports from the past week:

Over $4000 stolen from local business

in Orion was broken into sometime early Saturday morning, with $4400 in cash gone missing, according to a report.

The owner of the lounge contacted the police after arriving at the business around 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, noticing that his back door had been pried open and that the cash was missing from the closet in the business’s backroom. The cash was ‘start up cash’ along with Keno lottery cash and sales from Friday night. The investigation remains open.

Woman caught shoplifting clothing

An 18-year-old Pontiac female was cited for retail fraud after shoplifting more than $120 worth of jeans and shorts from on Friday, according to a report.

Deputies were contacted after the Kohl’s loss prevention agent watched the girl place the unpaid for merchandise in her personal bag. Soon after the deputies were pulling up to the store they watched as the loss prevention agent approached the female as she walked out of the store. The officers watched as the agent approached her and followed them inside the store, citing the woman.

Truck causes damage to lawn

On Thursday an 80-year-old Lake Orion man, residing on the 1400 block of Kempster Road notified deputies that around 6 a.m. on Thursday he found that someone had damaged his lawn by driving over the sod. There are no suspects at this time, but tracks did indicate that it was most likely a dual wheeled pickup truck that caused the damage, said the report.

A 46-year-old Lake Orion woman contacted the police on June 5 after noticing that she was missing about $1500 worth of jewelry.

Ex-boyfriend accused of stealing jewelry

According to the woman one of her former boyfriends, a 40-year-old from Holly, had asked to shower at her house on the 3000 block of Rolling Hills Road back on April 30. She allowed him to and left him alone in her bedroom/bathroom area for a half hour. After hearing that he was arrested recently for drug charges, she looked over her valuables noticing the missing Tiffany sets, turquoise ring and Native American jewelry pieces. She told the deputies that he has pawned jewelry before and that she has plans to prosecute.
