Kroger Employee Ticketed for Retail Fraud

Woman reportedly admits to taking DVD players out of store without paying for them.

Retail fraud at , 4888 Adams Rd., was reported about 5 p.m. Jan. 5, according to an report. A man reported that he witnessed an employee who was leaving work allegedly conceal three DVD players under her coat in a shopping cart. According to the report, the woman took the items and the cart to the Starbuck’s coffee shop within the store with her during her break.

After she was done with her break, the report states, the man watched her get up and take the Kroger cart past the theft scanners and into the lobby, which is past all points of purchase. The man, as noted in the report, approached the Rochester Hills woman and asked her if she had a receipt for the DVD players. Her initial response, according to the report, was that she did not have the receipt with her but could get a copy from her bank. However, after talking with the witness further, she allegedly admitted to not paying for the items, totaling around $180.

The responding deputy spoke with Kroger’s loss prevention personnel and they noted, according to the report, that they wanted the woman prosecuted for something. It was agreed she would be given a ticket for third-degree retail fraud, according to the report. The woman was initially arrested and then released after being given her ticket, the report said.
