Police Blotter: Man Steals Baby Formula To Sell In Detroit

Man steals baby formula for profit
A 35-year-old Washington man was caught shoplifting baby formula from the located at 460 N. Lapeer Rd. on Saturday, according to a report.
Orion Township Substation deputies were contacted after a loss prevention agent at Kroger escorted the man to the loss prevention office. The agent had watched as the man took baby formula from a display rack and put it into bags. The agent followed the man and confronted him after he had exited the store, making no attempt to pay for the items.

Deputies interviewed the man who admitted to stealing the baby formula and having other stolen products in his car. The man noted that was his second trip into the Kroger store and that he also had stolen from numerous stores in Macomb County recently. According to the report he said he shoplifts baby formula to sell for $6 per can to a store in Detroit. In total deputies recovered over $340 in stolen goods. Deputies filled out a warrant request for second degree retail fraud and forwarded it to the Oakland County Prosecutor's office.
Golf clubs stolen from trunk of car
Thousands of dollars worth of golfing equipment was allegedly stolen on May 21 from a car parked at in Lake Orion. A 68-year-old Oakand Township man reported his golf clubs and other items missing on May 22 after discovering they were gone.

According to the man he was at the driving range around 6 p.m. on May 21. He was talking with a man who was next to him about his range finder and golf clubs and then it started to rain so he put his equipment in the trunk of his car, said the report. The man then went inside the club house and after 15 minutes returned to his car when he saw the man he was talking to speed out of the parking lot.
The next day the 68-year-old man woke up, went to Fieldstone Golf Club in Auburn Hills intending to play golf and found his golf clubs and equipment missing from his trunk. After driving back to Willow Creek and being told they weren't there, the man told the police he suspects the man he was chatting with had stolen the equipment, noting he left his car door unlocked.
