Orion Township Board Honors Lt. Bruce Naile for Service

Naile served as an Army medic during the Vietnam war and at the Oakland County Sheriff's Office for 42 years.

The Orion Township Board of Trustees meeting started with 25 Oakland County Sheriff's Office deputies and a K-9 unit surrounding the back of the room Monday evening.

The deputies were honoring Lt. Bruce Naile, who was awarded a plaque for his 42 years of service to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, 19 of which were served as the substation commander in Orion Township.

Naile served as a medic in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war, receiving a silver star, bronze star and two combat medals during his service to our country.

Naile graciously accepted the award and delivered a speech thanking his wife and joking about his former weight and hair color at the beginning of his service.

"I really didn't expect any recognition for just doing my job.  The recognition should be directed to the 25 men and women deputies that line the back of the room, because they're the ones who have kept this township patrolled and safe over the years," Naile said.
