Photos: Eagle Scout Candidate, Volunteers Install Boardwalks at Cranberry Lake Park

Boardwalk installation is Eagle Scout candidate Steffen Mammen's final project.

More than spent much of Saturday in flood-prone sections of . The volunteer team was made up of scouts from Rochester Boy Scout Troop 356, volunteers from the , employees and members of the community who simply wanted to help.

Organized by as his final project, the boardwalk will help bridge flood-prone areas and ensure the park's trails can be used year-round by pedestrians and bikers.

"It makes the park more usable to anyone who wants to use it," township resident and volunteer George Ingram said. Ingram, who lives by Cranberry Lake, is an avid biker and says he has been asking for the boardwalks for years.

"At first, I thought it was going to be hectic," Mammen said of the installation, "but it's all coming together well."

Mammen and his fellow scouts have spent countless hours assembling the sections of boardwalk before the installation. He estimates the project took roughly 500 man hours to complete.
