Orion Township Board Names D-Arcy Gonzales Interim Trustee

Four candidates recently interviewed for the vacant trustee seat on the Orion Township Board of Trustees, with resident D-Arcy Gonzales being appointed to the position.

The board voted 6-1 (Trustee Michael Flood voted no) in favor of Gonzales at Monday's board meeting. The other interested candidates included Orion Township residents Heather Muzzy, and Dale Romeo.

Former Trustee Mark Crane resigned from the board after purchasing a house in Rochester Hills and his seat on the board officially became open on June 4. at the end of May, giving the board time to mull over their decision prior to Monday's meeting.

All seven board terms are coming to an end in November, and aside from Gonzales, all board members are running for re-election in the Aug. 7 primary. During the candidate forum Gonzales, who has a background in municipal banking, noted he is interested in helping the community, but did not wish to commit to a four-year term.

Gonzales has been a resident of Orion Township for 32 years and has been active in the community in a variety of ways. For eight years he was a member of the Lake Orion Board of Education and has been a board member for the Lake Orion Education Foundation as well. He has also been involved in the Orion/Oxford Soccer League and is the past treasurer of the Greater Oakland Republican Club.
