The Lake Orion Village Council and the Downtown Development Authority have each moved their meetings this week due to the Veterans Day holiday Monday.
Village Council will meet Tuesday, Nov. 13. Council has scheduled a hearing to take public comment on moving future village elections to November of even-numbered years. Village elections are currently held in September on odd-numbered years. The change would allow the elections to be administered by Orion Township.
In the last village council election in September 2011, when four councilmembers were elected, only 168 ballots were cast.
Council has also scheduled a public hearing on how to use $7,088 in Community Development Block Grant money expected in the 2013 program year. Also on the agenda is a status report on the old senior center building at 21 East Flint.
The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. at the village hall, 37 East Flint Street.
DDA to meet Wednesday
The Lake Orion DDA will meet Wednesday at 7:15 p.m., also at the village hall. Agenda items include election of officers, consideration of a façade grant request for 51 North Brewery, and a closed session to discuss acquisition of 29 East Front Street.
The property formerly housed Whiskey’s Steakhouse and has been vacant for some time. The agenda indicates the board plans to act on the item after reconvening to open session.
