Village Offers Fall Leaf Pickup

No bagging is required in the Village of Lake Orion.

With leaves falling like rain these days, residents of the Village of Lake Orion can take advantage of the village’s free, fall leaf pickup service now through November.

The village’s leaf vacuum will make the rounds of the village continuously, as weather permits. The village urges residents to rake leaves to the curb as early as possible, given the uncertainties of the weather.

The village has been divided into three sections; each section will receive pickup at least once a week. Section one, the area east of M-24, will have its final opportunit the week of Nov. 13. Section two, the area west of M-24, will end the week of Nov. 19. Section three, the islands, will finish up the week of Nov. 26.

Brush and limbs cannot be mixed with leaves. The village’s contracted trash hauler, Richfield, will accept brush and limbs with yard waste on its regular schedule, if they are less than two inches in diameter and less than four feet long.  Village residents may also bag leaves in paper bags for the weekly compost collection service through Nov. 26.

Orion Township, which includes the village, does not allow leaf burning. Township residents outside the village should contact their trash hauler for options.
